The Story Behind Sympholingua
Sympholingua began long before the first song was recorded.As far back as my early days as a Teacher Assistant in English classes, I watched children light up the moment a song began. But the energy would vanish when the song ended: no continuity, no follow-through.Almost instinctively, I started building bridges: a game from the song, a song back to the lesson, a melody that carried the learning forward. That instinct never left me.Years later, teaching Spanish, everything clicked. Students would memorise entire songs effortlessly and those rhythms, pronunciations and structures would quietly appear in their everyday speech. Music wasn’t just engaging them. It was changing how they spoke.So I started writing songs specifically designed to teach — vocabulary, grammar, culture — wrapped in the authentic sounds of the Spanish-speaking world.Those songs lived in notebooks for years. New creative technologies finally made it possible to bring them to life.That is Sympholingua.
